For year three, I am looking to build a client friendly portfolio. That being said, I want to begin thinking about the areas in which I work well, specifically what categories my style best suits. At the moment, I am really enjoying the Coffee Guide project that I am working on. It allows me to combine 5 exciting aspects, including; travel, photography, working with people within new/familiar communities, exploring commercial print/book design, create a business plan, and collaborate with students outside my course (i.e. graphics and business). In conclusion, I plan to work within a professional/real world creative realm in conjunction with my love for documentary.
Regarding the format in which I hope to practice, I will be operating both as an artist and as a businesswoman. I plan to incorporate marketing into my practice, via social media and website showcasing. I also plan to create moving image to help me in my promotion. I find that social media give you a lot of range, even when promoting print items, like the Coffee Guides.
When thinking of my end goals, I want to enter the publishing world. I feel that as a young artist, the sooner I get into this category, the less scary and unapproachable it seams. It will take a lot of researching and consulting, but the completion of these goals will set a precedence for my future work while demonstrating my capabilities to future clients.
